Family Remembrace by Deb
NOT LONG AGO BARBARA SAID TO ME “YOU KNOW, IF THERE IS ANYTHING GOOD THAT HAS RESULTED FROM MY ILLNESS IT HAS BROUGHT PEOPLE TOGETHER SHE CERTAINLY WAS RIGHT , WE ALL BECAME CLOSER. MY SISTER WAS TRULY THE KINDEST, AND MOST CARING PERSON I HAVE EVER KNOWN. SHE NEVER COMPLAINED, SHE APPROACHED HER ILLNESS BRAVELY AND , QUIETLY, WAS DETERMINED TO GET BETTER AND BEAT THIS THING WE CALL CANCER. BARBARA WAS MORE THAN A SISTER TO ME, SHE WAS MY SOULMATE AND MY CONFIDANT AND MY BEST FRIEND. SURE WE HAD OUR DIFFERENCES BUT WE ALWAYS GOT BACK TO WHERE WE NEEDED TO BE......CARING FOR EACH OTHER. THERE WAS NEVER ANY DOUBT THAT WE LOVED EACH OTHER UNCONDITIONALLY.. SEEING MY SISTER SUFFER SO MUCH HAS BEEN REALLY DIFFICULT FOR US ALL, ,I HAVE SO MUCH COMFORT IN KNOWING THAT SHE IS IN A BETTER PLACE WITH THOSE WHO HAVE GONE BEFORE HER ANDWELCOMED HER HOME. I CAN JUST IMAGINE THE HUGE PARTY GOING ON UP THERE RIGHT NOW!! THE CARD TABLE IS OUT, CIGARS FIRED UP AND THE HIGHBALLS FLOWING... AND THE LADIES COOKING IN THE KITCHEN... I DO WANT TO SINGLE OUT ONE VERY SPECIAL PERSON HERE TODAY WHO MEANT SO MUCH TO MY SISTER AND THAT IS HER NEPHEW AND GODCHILD, MY SON DANNY. SHE SO LOVED HIM AND APPRECIATED EVERYTHING THAT HE DID FOR HER, DRIVING HER TO AND FROM DOCTORS APPOINTMENTS, RUSHING HER TO THE HOSPITAL AND WAITING COUNTLESS HOURS IN EMERGENCY ROOMS, AND DOCTORS OFFICES. AND FOR SITTING UP AT NIGHT WITH HER WHEN SHE WAS SO SICK AND CARING FOR HER DURING THE DAY BECAUSE PETER AND I HAD TO GO WORK TO PAY THE BILLS...LIFE WENT ON EVEN THOUGH IT WAS SO VERY TOUGH FOR US ALL. WHENEVER I WOULD VISIT BARBARA AT THE VARIOUS HOSPITALS AND THE REHAB AND DANNY WAS NOT WITH ME SHE'D ALWAYS ASK “WHERE'S DANNY”...THEIRS WAS A VERY SPECIAL BOND.IT IS NOT SO CRAZY TO UNDERSTAND THAT BARBARA CHOSE TO LEAVE US ON DANNY'S BIRTHDAY, I THINK SHE WAS ACTUALLY WAITING FOR THAT DAY TO GIVE HIM THE GREATEST PRESENT HE COULD HAVE BEEN GIVEN , SO SEE HIS DEAR AUNT MOVE ON TO A BETTER PLACE, PAIN FREE AND FINALLY AT PEACE. WE WOULD LIKE TO THANK EVERYONE FOR BEING HERE TODAY AND FOR YOUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS, YOUR CALLS, CARDS, LETTERS AND VISITS. BARBARA REALLY WAS COMFORTED BY YOUR KINDNESS. A SISTER IS ONE WHO REACHES FOR YOUR HAND AND TOUCHES YOUR HEART. BARBARA THANK YOU FOR TOUCHING MY HEART AND BEING MY GUARDIAN ANGEL FOR THE PAST 58 YEARS, I WILL MISS YOU AND LOOK FORWARD TO THE DAY WHEN YOU ARE THERE TO TAKE MY HAND AND WELCOME ME HOME...
