Obituary of Phyllis Dwyer

Phyllis (Butler) Dwyer, a resident of Burlington for over 50 years, passed away at the Life Care Center of Merrimack Valley in Billerica on Friday morning, April 9, 2010. The wife of the late John J. Dwyer, she was 83 years old. Phyllis was born and raised in Woburn. She was a 1944 graduate of Woburn High School. She went on to attend Hairdressing School. She worked as a Technician at Intertel in Burlington. She also worked in the cafeteria for the Burlington School System for many years. Phyllis lived a full and active life. She was a member of the Morgairs at St. Malachy’s in Burlington. She was also a Cub Scout Leader. Phyllis enjoyed vacationing with her family and traveling to such places as Ireland, Cape Cod, New Hampshire, and Brant Rock in Marshfield. She also enjoyed cooking, baking, knitting, reading and playing bingo with her friends. Phyllis loved the holidays most especially Christmas. She always looked forward to family cookouts during the summer. Phyllis treasured the many wonderful times she spent with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She leaves a legacy of family. Phyllis was the beloved wife of the late John J. Dwyer. She was the loving mother of Gail Gately of Billerica, John Jr. of North Reading, Thomas & his wife Charlene of Billerica, Stephen & his wife Kathii Lee of HI, and Michael & his fiancé Tracy Kelly of Burlington. Sister of Gladys Harrold of Billerica, Alice O’Donoghue of North Reading, Richard Butler of Woburn, and the late Betty Harrold & Mark and Robert “Sonny” Butler. Devoted grandmother of Kathy & Michelle Gately, Colleen Goulet, Danielle Hegarty, Crystal, Lauren & John III Dwyer, Kelly Colbert, Katelyn Zampell, Samantha Lee and Daryll Andrews. Devoted great grandmother of Nicholas Morley, Michaela Jones, Cedrick, MacKenzie & Evan Colbert, Caitlin& Aiden Dwyer, Jack & Brooke Goulet, Abrigail Gately, and Rylie & Alyson Hegarty. Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Friday, April 16 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St., Burlington at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Thursday 4-8 p.m. Interment in Calvary Cemetery, Woburn.
