Eleanor C. (Morrow) Bonfanti, a resident of Burlington for the past 27 years, passed away at the Pines of Tewksbury on Saturday afternoon, July 9, 2010. The wife of the late Leonardo “Leo” Bonfanti, she was 86 years old. Ellie was born in Boston. She was the daughter of the late Albert and Mary Morrow. She was raised and educated in Medford and was a graduate of Medford High School. Ellie and her husband lived in Wakefield for many years and then after her husband passed away she moved to Burlington. Ellie had a successful career in the Nursing Field. She was a graduate of the Melrose-Wakefield School of Nursing. She worked at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital for most of her career as Head Nurse in the Maternity Ward, retiring from the Hospital. Ellie was also an advocate for the elderly and was a Long Term Care Ombudsman visiting local nursing homes. Ellie led a full and active life. She was always on the go. She was a member of St. Margaret’s Choir. Ellie was a member of the Burlington Council on Aging where she made many friendships. She was a past Secretary. She was very involved at the center, never missing any of their meetings, events, and socials. She was also a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. At the age of 72 in 1996, Ellie graduated from Middlesex Community College with an Associate’s Degree. Ellie was an avid Red Sox fan. She was also a talented quilter and shared her talent with her many family and friends sharing with them quilts that she made. Ellie was blessed to lead a full and active life that spanned 86 years with a loving family and many friendships. Ellie was the beloved wife of the late Leonardo “Leo”. She was the loving mother of Charles Bonfanti & his wife Susanne Pinkham of Taos, NM and Janice Eaton & her husband Mel of Burlington. Sister of Jeanne Ivester and Daniel Morrow both of North Reading, James Morrow of Tyngsboro and the late Mary Burt and Albert “Tony” Morrow. Grandmother of Amy Perreault, Michael GaNung, Nathaniel Bonfanti, Gabriel Bonfanti, Patrice Brennan & Michelle Browne. Also survived by 6 great grandchildren. Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Thursday, July 15 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St., BURLINGTON at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Wednesday 4-8 p.m. Interment in Forest Glade Cemetery, Wakefield. Memorials in Ellie’s name may be made to Merrimack Valley Hospice, 360 Merrimack St., Building 9, Lawrence, MA 01843.
