Obituary of William Saverse

William “Bill” A. Saverse died July 27, 2010 at Sunrise of Burlington. He was 85 years old. Bill was a WWII Veteran, serving in the US Army as a Tec 4. He fought in the battles of Normandy, France, Belgium, Germany, and at the Battle of the Bulge. He was extremely proud to have served his country. He was honored by both the American and French Governments and was the recipient of the Good Conduct Medal, European, African, Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon, and the WW II Victory Medal. After returning from the war, Bill graduated from University of Massachusetts with an engineering degree. He worked for several engineering firms in Boston retiring in 1991. After his retirement, he received his Teaching Certificate and tutored children at the Josiah Quincy School in Boston for many years. He was known to the children as Mr. Bill. He was well loved by his many nieces and nephews and will be lovingly remembered. Bill was the son of the late H. Mary (O’Keefe) Saverse, Shannon and stepson of the late Vincent V. Shannon. He was the brother of the late Catherine (Saverse) Campbell of Arlington. He was survived by his nieces Kathryn (Campbell) Lesica of Franklin Ma, Dianne Campbell of Haverhill Ma, Sharon (Campbell) Boyle of Atkinson, NH, Anne (Campbell) Karp of Summerville, SC and Daniel Campbell of Brockton MA. He also leaves eight Great Nieces and four Great Nephews, five Great Great Nieces and Nephews. Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Saturday, July 31 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn Street, Burlington at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Friday 4-7 p.m. Interment in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, West Roxbury.
