I couldn't have asked for a better brother in-law as a kid and as an adult. He took my younger sister, Janice, and me to our first concert, Bob Seger, snowmobiling and drive-in movies. He helped me with my geometry homework, listened to me during difficult times. He was more than a brother in-law - he was my friend. I will miss him and consider myself very lucky to have been part of his life. Love you.

To Laura and family,
I was sadden to hear of Alan's passing. My sincere condolences to all of you. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. Laura, from the first time I met Alan, I knew you found someone special. The day of your wedding just confirmed it. Although we didn't see much of each other over the years, I always enjoyed talking with him at the football games. He will be missed by so many! R.I.P Alan. Uncle Alan was an amazing uncle and role model. I have so many great memories from the lobster cookouts to hockey to Patriots games. He was always friendly and willing to help me with something or just have a good conversation about Boston sports. I will always remember these things and am thinking and praying for you guys. Love, Jake

While I never had the pleasure of knowing Alan, I know his son Dan very well. Dan could only be the fine person he is by first having loving parents as excellent role models.
My prayers got to the entire Roderick family.

My heart is breaking for all of you. I remember Alan exactly as you have written about him ... interested in other people's problems and trying to help if he could, kind, positive, his love of coaching. But most of all how much he loved his family. Thinking and praying for all of you.

Big Al was one of the best, nicest, and warmest people I've ever been fortunate enough to know. I truly value every memory of him I have. Be they wrestling meets, Gloucester trips, or just hanging around his house, I am eternally grateful to have been lucky enough to spend time around such a man. My deepest condolences go out to the entire Roderick/Hanlon family. He was a great family man, friend, and role model. Though it doesn't take away the pain, I hope you all can find solace in the fact that the four great people he had a hand in raising will always be a lasting tribute to his memory. I love you guys, stay strong.
