Gary,
I'm so sorry to hear about your Mother. She was always so kind to all of us who made your basement our second home at the time. I can remember her sense of humor and her warm smile. Even after not seeing her for years she was still the same friendly "Gary's Mom" when I ran into her last year at the mall. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family. -Heidi

I remember so fondly the gracious Yu family that made a college student feel so welcome at his first Chinese New Year celebration. From red envelopes to making spring rolls, amazing food and fellowship, it a forever memory that I think of often.
I am so sorry for your loss and though we may have met just once or twice, I will miss a truly generous spirit and mourn with you.
Gary and family, my thoughts and prayers are with you as you say goodbye to a mother, aunt and friend.

Dear Ken and Family, I had the honor of meeting Mrs. Yu when I was a letter carrier delivering to your home. She brought me into the house and served tea and cookies on the coldest days. In the warm weather my husband and I would pass by the house on our daily walk and Lisa would always greet us when she was working in the yard. We also had the pleasure of meeting Ken and also knew Gary when he was a young man working in town. She was so proud of her family, I felt like I knew everyone. I will always have a smile when I think of Lisa and the love she had for all.

I only met Lisa Yu twice. In spite of her illness, she was graceful, humorous and welcoming. It was a great privilege to meet both her and her family.

Karmine-My heart goes out to you and your family. Your mom was always a kind, gentle woman. I remember her opening her home to us when we were college roommates. She cooked for us and taught us how to make stir-fry. I still make that dish for my family. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Lisa was one of the loveliest ladies I have ever met and so devoted to her hubby, Ken, and family. There is no doubt that she will be sorely missed. While she is totally irreplaceable, she has left a super legacy. She was also like another grandmother to my grandchildren, God Bless Her and Blessings on All she left behind. Know that you were special to have been a "huge" part of her life and be thankful that her pain has ended. You have all got a "Special Angel" watching over you and guiding you along your way. So sad for your loss.

Dearest Karen and Family,
Please accept my deepest condolences for the passing of your mother, and wife and Auntie. I remember visiting your home, Karen, in 1994, just before we jetted off to Europe. Your mother made a wonderful meal, and cut up some juicy mango for us. Her warm welcome and hospitality warmed my heart.
I'm thinking of you and sending you big, big hugs.
With warmest wishes and love,
Tracy

To Lisa's Family: Lisa was part of our tennis group for many, many years and we all became very close to her. She was so kind, generous and wonderful to be around because of her positive spirit which she displayed, and never more so than thru her courageously long struggle. Not only were we blessed to have her sportsmanship and skill on the court but she also her friendship and generosity when she shared her wonderful food at our luncheons and in your home. She will be dearly missed but may we all take comfort in knowing that her suffering has ended and that the world is better for having had her in it.
I'm sure there are no words that can ease your sorrow at this time but as time passes take solice in these words from Helen Keller: "What we once enjoyed and deeply loved we can never lose, for all that we love deeply becomes a part of us."

Heartfelt condolences to Uncle Ken, Karen, Karmine, Gary and to Auntie Lisa's extended family on this incredible loss. Auntie Lisa was one of the kindest people I have ever known. Being in her presence was like being in a warm embrace -- she was everyone's mother, auntie and sister -- listening, offering encouragement and assistance, feeding you and making you believe the best in yourself. She was an extraordinary person with a big heart and her character and spirit will be remembered.
