Obituary of Lisa Yu

Lisa Yu, a loving wife, mother and auntie, after a courageous 4 year journey with lung cancer passed away peacefully at her home with her family at her bedside on Wednesday afternoon, September 22, 2010. She was 69 years old just one month shy of her 70th birthday. Lisa was born in the Guangdong Province of China. She was the daughter of the late Cham and Foon Ng. She left China in 1957 making her home in Hong Kong for 5 years before immigrating to the United States. She settled in Flint, Michigan and soon after helped her family establish The House of Ing Restaurant in Lansing, MI. It was in Michigan where she met her future husband Ken Yu. They were married in November of 1966 and settled in Burlington in 1968. Lisa worked as a bank teller and a Chinese cooking teacher when she was younger however, her real passion was taking care of her husband, children and large extended family. She was an incredible cook, who always enjoyed creating new recipes and hosting large holiday celebrations for family and friends. She was an avid tennis player and an active member of the local tennis club. She cherished the time shared with friends and family. Her home and heart was always open to friends, family and friends of friends who needed a place to call home or needed help in anyway. Everyone knew her endearingly as &quote;Auntie Lisa&quote;. Lisa was the beloved wife of 43 years of Ken Yu. Loving mother of Karen of San Francisco, CA, Karmine of New York, NY, and Gary of Arlington, MA. Sister of Paul Eng of Michigan, Michael Ing of Hong Kong, and the late Cathy Lane. Funeral services will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn Street, BURLINGTON (exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Monday, September 27 at 11 a.m. Visiting hours Sunday 3-6 p.m. Interment in Pine Haven Cemetery, Burlington. Memorials in Lisa’s name may be made to the Massachusetts General Hospital Thoracic Cancer Research Fund, c/o Development Office, 165 Cambridge St., Suite 600, Boston, MA 02116.
