Obituary of Mario Angelo

Mario Andrew Angelo, a retired Technician at Lucent Technologies, passed away after a brief illness on Thursday night, September 13, 2012. He was 75 years old. Mario was born in Boston, the son of the late Andrew and Josephine Angelo. He grew up in Somerville in a home steep in Italian tradition. He was a graduate of Somerville High School and Franklin Technical Institute where he earned a degree in Drafting. He served in the Navy from 1956 to 1958. He worked for Lucent Technologies for 36 years as a technician, repairing and installing telephone systems in companies and businesses. Mario and his wife Pat were married in 1962 and made their home in Medford for their first ten years of marriage. They moved to Burlington in 1972 and became well-established in the community. Mario enjoyed working around his home, yard, and garden. He took joy in his tomato plants and recently found great pride in growing and cultivating a fig tree from a cutting. He enjoyed Trap, Skeet and Sporting Clay shooting and was a very active member of the Woburn Sportsman Club, serving on the Board of Directors as well as two terms as President. He was also a member of the Minuteman Sportsman Club. He had a great eye for shooting and shared his knowledge and interest in the sport with his sons, who became Junior members of the clubs. He loved being outdoors, enjoying nature, and occasionally hunting game. He also enjoyed the time spent with his sons fishing or on family vacations. He was extremely proud of his three sons, their life decisions and careers, and for their providing him with 6 wonderful grandchildren. He shared 50 years of marriage with his beloved wife Pat, supporting each other’s interests, sharing in their witty banter, and the gifts and challenges of being parents and grandparents. Mario’s passing is difficult to accept, but his memory will forever remain in his family’s hearts. Mario was the beloved husband of 50 years of Patricia J. (O’Hehir). He was the loving father of Robert & his wife Michele of Stafford, VA, James & his wife Peggy of Wrentham and David & his wife Melanie of Tyngsboro. He was the brother of Maryann Calderazzo of Burlington, Joseph of Stoneham and Andrew of Windham, NH. He was the proud grandfather of Anthony of Stafford, VA, Kyle, Jack and Cara of Wrentham and Emma & Grace of Tyngsboro. Mario is also survived by his pet Figgy. Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Tuesday, Sept. 18 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St., Burlington at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Monday 4-8 p.m. Interment in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Burlington.
