Raia, Edward A. of Burlington, May 31. Loving husband of Louise N. (Costa). Beloved brother of the late Salvatore Raia, Phyllis Martines, and Nancy Cantelli. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews. Edward was extremely proud of his military service. He joined the Army and served his time during WW II. Ed spent most of his tour in the Philippines as a Medic until the war ended. Anyone who new Eddie, knew how proud he was to be an American. He was also involved in the Cavalry and would light up at the chance to tell people stories of his past. Ed was very involved in the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He would take pleasure in marching in all parades he was invited to. Ed was the past Commander of the Post 1272 in Belmont (1988 – 1989) and for many years, Commander of the American Legion Post 165, Belmont. He held this position until the day he died. “Uncle Eddie”, as he was known by all, will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends. Visiting hours will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St. BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Thursday, June 2 from 6-8 p.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend. Interment will be private.
