I've known Mr. McDonough's daughter, Kerry, since being stationed together at Seymour and I'm currently deployed. When Kerry told her father that I had gone over to the desert, I got put on the cookie list. I can't tell you how good it feels to get homemade cookies when you live in a place that is mundane, at best, it would definitely bring a spark to the day when they arrived. I just wanted to say, "Thank you, Mr. Cookie Man and God Bless you!"

The McDonough Family,
I just received news of Mr. McDonough passing from my father. I just wanted to send my condolences all the way from Guam. I remember as a little girl riding my bike up and down Dennis and seeing Mr. McDonough always working in the garage. He always a smiling guy and great person. Mr. MCDonough And your familiy are in my prayers during this hard time. I wish I could be there to express my sorrow in person.

I was so fortunate to get to know and become such a good friend of Jake (as he was known at Polaroid). We spent 8 hours a week working together, sharing break times, going for walks, out to eat, or just Dunkin Donut runs. We had a portable CD player at work, and we introduced each other to different styles of music. Jake introduced me to his favorites, Phil Coulter and James Galway. Robin and I enjoyed both Phil Coulter and James Galway performances with Jake and Veronica. Jake also brought my attention to the music and dance of Riverdance. Robin and I saw Riverdance when it first came to the US, at Radio City Music Hall in New York. One of the best performances I have ever seen, a great experience we had as a result of knowing Jake. Jake has been a great friend, who would go out of his way to do for others. I was so lucky to have known him, he will be sorely missed.

My thoughts and prayers are with the whole family. Kerry, your dad was such a sweet man. I remember all the parties at your house and how he was always happy when his house was filled with noisy teens! He will be missed by many.

It is impossible to express how very sad it has been to hear about Mr. McDonough's passing. I have known his daughter Kerry since 1996, when we survived USAF Basic Training and Tech School together.
There were some days when all Kerry and I wanted to do was to go home. I am pretty sure that Kerry's Dad must have had supersonic hearing because these were usually the same day's when Kerry would receive a care package (the biggest box you could imagine).
In these packages we would find a couple of hundred homemade cookies accompanied with other goodies and letters from home. Sitting in Kerry's room; snacking on the cookies, talking and laughing...we would discuss the events of the day and realize that we could probably survive another week of military training.
It's always sad to lose someone whose life's work is bringing smiles and laughter to others. My sincerest condolences to the Mr. McDonough's family and friends.

Jake, we will miss your smiling face and hearty laugh as you cooked on the grill, for family, friends and all that came to gather on your beautifully built patio and landscaped backyard.
Your unquestionable love and support for family is inspirational to all. We have all being blessed to know you on this journey and walk awhile on the road with you.
May you rest in peace as the Lord watches over you.
With all our love.
