Obituary of Filomena Teresa Balba

     Filomena Teresa (Gravallese) Balba of Burlington, Ma., passed away peacefully surrounded by family, on Thursday, November 29, 2018.  She was 85 years old.  Filomena “Phyllis” by all who knew her,  was the beloved wife of the late Santo Balba. Phyllis was born, raised and educated in East Boston.  She was the daughter of the late Charles and Rose Gravallese.  

     Prior to her retirement, Phyllis worked as a Technical Typist at Aerodyne Research in Billerica for over 20 years but her primary role was that of wife, mother and grandmother.   Memories of Phyllis are filled with many family holidays at home, summer Barb-b-ques with extended family and camping trips all organized and planned by Phyllis.

          Phyllis was the loving mother of Sandra & her husband Harold Samson of Davenport, FL, Michael Balba & his late wife Jeri of Billerica, MA., Mark Balba & his wife Christine of Merritt Island, FL, Susan & her husband Stephen Denning of Salem, NH and Karen & her late husband John Joslyn of Tyngsborough, MA.  Sister of Rosemarie Lewis of Plymouth, MA., Carolyn Costello of Glastonbury, CT and Charles Gravallese of Fort Myers, FL.  Phyllis is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.  Visiting hours will be held at the Edward V Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128/95 Woburn side) on Monday, Dec. 3 from 10 – 11:30 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St., Burlington at Noon.  Burial to follow in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Burlington.  In lieu of flowers memorials in Phyllis’s name may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 309 Waverly Oaks Road, Waltham, MA 02452   www.alz.org
