It was my fortune to be a hiking friend of Jack. In 2000 he and I decided to thru hike the Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine starting in 2001. We flew to Atlanta GA and got a ride to the trail. We hiked for several days. Jack was unhappy with his hiking pace. He was offered a ride to his home and he left the trail. I missed his wonderful sense of humor and hiking knowledge.
He will always be in my thoughts of our hiking experiences in the White Mts. and of course our preparation and time on the AT thru hike.

Jack, two days before you passed we spoke on the telephone and I was able to say goodbye. I told you not to be afraid and to go in peace. I can only hope, that when my time comes, I will have the same courage and dignity that you showed.
Love Marie Schyrokyj ( Kashmanian)
Jack, from a former NCO in the British Army to a senior NCO in the US Airforce a salute, and to tell you that the skies are clear and visibility unlimited for your journey.
God Bless.

So sorry for your loss. God Bless Dottie to you & the Family. Jack was proud of all his kids & grand kids. A loving man I know, because we were neighbors, I saw him with his family. I will miss Jack too, as he'd be sitting in the spring & summer, on the porch reading. Or puttering around the yard in his favorite green hat. That you teased him about. Always with a smile. This neighborhood has lost, a great man. Rest In Peace Jack. You will be missed sorely.
God Bless to you all Jack Stanley's Family. Always remember the great times you had with such a caring Husband, Father & Friend.

I have very fond memories of Jack from many years of playing volleyball with him Monday nights at Burl Rec. Dept. Always enjoyed chatting with him and hearing about his hiking exploits, and amazed at his level of activity. My condolences to his family.
