The service was so much much more to me than I was prepared for, and although the pandemic didn't allow us to be there to support you, I felt we were with you.
You girls prepared a lovely obituary for your Dad. It expressed your love for him, and the way that the three of you banded together to care for him showed your love for him and for your Mom.We are very proud of all of you,

Alan was always willing to help others. I knew that he'd carefully stored snow tires for Barbara and the girls, each tire marked front/rear, MJ's, BJ's. Allyson's. to prepare for the first snow and having his girls safe. He'd go out in the cold to start cars to warm engines before they headed out for the day. For me, one of the "helps" was rescuing me after I blew out a tire on Rte.3 south. near the exit to Rte. 62, on my way to class at Northeastern in Burlington. Bill was in California on business training, and this was before cell phones. The rescue involved jacking up the car, changing the tire, and all the while expressing concern that I didn't take the situation seriously enough. I tried to explain that I'd been passing another car when the blow out happened, and I was so proud that I didn't hit the other car, brought my car to a safe stop alongside the roadway, and happy that a kind stranger stopped and gave me a ride to Alan's house, I couldn't stop grinning.Alan just kept muttering and shaking his head, while I kept grinning. We always knew he'd help us in any way he could.

Mary Jane, Barbara and Allison,
Please accept my deepest condolences. I have many wonderful memories of your father. My favorite was vacationing with your family down the Cape. It was such a wonderful part of my childhood. I am praying for peace to you all and your families.
