"Fitzy" and I worked together at MWH. She, as Microbiology Supervisor, and I as Hematology Supervisor .
We shared an office together in the Lab. Had many in depth conversations about many topics. My older sister, Janet Casey worked in Microbiology while "Fitzy" was there.
Wishing her family deepest sympathies for their loss of a truly amazing person.
Rest in peace, my friend. Your work here in earth is done and you are now at peace in the arms of Jesus.

Even though we lost my mentor, Godmother, and Aunt Kack (Catherine) several weeks ago, we will, finally, have a service for her this Saturday and lay her to rest. It will be held where I made my confirmation and where I was married by Father Crispo.
It was her drive to work helping people that inspired me into nursing. Although I didn't finish my RN, she showed me through her love of being her parents' caretaker the value of this, not just a job, but a commitment. She even paid my tuition to become a CNA after I had my bachelor's degree. She had chosen Microbiology and was the head of the Department at Massachusetts General Hospital.
Kack may not had any of her own children, but she lit up whenever there were children around. Kack would often organize the fun like Easter coin hunts, teaching us to ski at Nashoba Valley or our many trips to the White Mountains where she ended up owning a place right on Loon Mountain. This was just one of the places she and only she came to watch me race downhill skiing when I was in college. Of course, Kack took me all over New England to ski. This made me feel so special. Not only did we downhill ski: we hiked, traveled in her van; along the Kancamagus (3 seasons), N. Conway, cross-country skied, stopping by the Old Man of the Mountain, The Lower Falls and many more places. We even had an annual New Year's Party.

Dear Fitzgerald family: I am the daughter of Maureen Murphy, Kathleen's dear pal from high school. (Mom moved to Washington, DC, to be near to me and my sister over a year ago.) We are all so sorry about the death of Kathleen ("Fitzi" to us). She was in my mom's wedding, was very close pals with my aunt Pauline for many years, and was special to our whole family -- including my Nana Mary Murphy. My last memory of Kathleen was when Mom and I had lunch with her and her brother. We spoke fondly of our mutual love of Ireland and skiing. She was a generous and loyal friend and we shall cherish our memories of her. Peace to you all -- Patricia Franco

Sincere sympathy on Kathleen’s death. R.I.P. I am glad I had an opportunity of speaking to her by phone when doing Family Tree. I wished we could have met. I felt her family love and spirit. Prayers for her and for her own close Boston family.
