I met Rick in the 80's while he was living in Keene, decades later and miles apart we remained friends and continued to keep in touch. So many great memories came from our friendship not the least of which are quite a few epic tailgating experiences.
I choose to picture Rick's parting moment coming as he finishes the best round of golf of his life. Rest well my friend.

First, my condolences to Frank, Mary Lou and the rest of the family. Second, thank you Rick, for the memories growing up together. For the schools we attended, Memorial, Francis Wyman, Burlington High and Bentley College. For the sports we played, golf, baseball, football, street and ice hockey, basketball and yes, soccer. For the board games we enjoyed, Risk, Stratego, backgammon, cribbage and chess. For the games we attended, Patriots, Red Sox and Bruins. Also, the concerts we attended, too many to list. For the trips we took, Super Bowl 42, Myrtle Beach, Chicago, Red Sox at Cubs, BC at Clemson, Pat’s at Buffalo, Francestown, Keene, and of course, the summers on Cape Cod with your family. Finally, for the memories in-between. Thank you old friend, rest in peace.

Rick was the best friend a guy could ask for. Funny how friendships work sometime. When he first hired me to work at Strawberries Harvard Square In 1985, it was a total manager/employee relationship. Then, you get to know a person and realize you have more in common than first thought. I moved away from Boston three years later but the friendship remained intact and continued to grow...mostly because Rick loved to travel and I of course would always welcome him to my home in Minneapolis and later Nashville. My wife Amy went from “oh darn, your loud friend Rick is coming again?!?” to Rick and Amy becoming close friends as well. My deepest sympathies to the Cross family. In a non pandemic time my wife and I would be there to say goodbye to our treasured friend. We will miss you, Rick. You were always a lot of fun.
