Maria and Ray,
I remember sitting in biology class with Maria — and your lovely wedding, Maria and Ray! And your joy! The start of so many fond memories!
Thanks to Facebook, I have watched the wonderful journey of your family over these precious years — so much joy in so many photographs that have given a window into your beautiful family!
Through those images, I have also witnessed the journey of your beautiful parents — sitting together in heart and spirit, always surrounded by family! The lovely video shared this story even more, with your Mom always surrounded by family and her wonderful positive, warm bright smile!
I can only imagine how much you miss your Mom — there is just no one like our Mom! I believe she is in heaven, greeted by God and all the angels with a warm hug - and surrounded by so many loved ones who have gone before her.
Hoping you will all feel your Mom’s love with you every day, for always— her pride and joy in you - and her smile in your heart.
And hoping your Dad will feel the comfort of her love for all of his days!
With most sincere prayers, condolences, wishes for peace and love,
Joyce

Stella
The Year was 1975 and I wanted to join a pop Warner Football team. I was slight of weight, but I wanted to play Linebacker. Practice was around the corner from their Medford home. I was inserted for my first play and the Brute of a running back, ran me over, while I tried to tackle him. I don’t remember much after that, but I knew my Aunt Stella and favorite Uncle Jerry lived around the corner. I somehow walked over there, rang the Bell and Aunty Stella took one look at me and SCREAMED AS LOUD AS IVE EVER HEARD. I had a bruise the size of a Baseball over my rt. Eye. She called my Mother and told Her in No Uncertain Words that He’s Not Ever to Play Organized Football again!!!
My Football Dream Came to a End that day. Just to be sure I would not play again, She threw my Helmut AWAY!
Later on in life I had convened a impromptu comparison of Italian Cassata Pie. I had my mothers, my Granmothers and I had Auntie Stellas!! Hands Down Auntie Stellas was The BEST. I RECIEVED A PIE ON EASTER FROM HER FOR MANY MANY YEARS.
RIP Auntie Stella till we meet Again!

Higgins Family - I submitted this to the Woburn Daily Times but I don’t think it was picked up. I will put it here. She was a lovely grandmother who I look back on with fond memories as a young girl.
I grew up in a predominantly Irish family. Our meals centered mostly around meat and potatoes. The potatoes were okay I guess. But later on in life I discovered I’m actually a vegetarian. My very best childhood friend was Italian. Came from a huge family. Every Friday said family gathered at her grandmother’s house for pizza. Loads of them. We’d get off the bus at 3:30 and walk up the hill. You could smell it from outside. “Sit, sit,” she’d say, “I make you one. Only a little sauce you like. Only a little.” She’d have 6 large cheese pizzas spread out on her counter. We’d eat and talk. She’d clearly been waiting and preparing for us all day. Maybe even all week. The rest of the family would start to trickle in between 4 and 6PM. Those pizzas we’d devour after school I now realize we’re just appetizers for their Friday night feasts. I’d largely forgotten about this experience I had some 30 years earlier until one day I opened the doors at Cafe Sorelli. I picked up my lovely little cheese pizza just for me and headed back to the office. I opened the box behind the computer and popped in my first bite. I was immediately taken back to when I was 10 years old in my Italian friend’s grandmother’s kitchen. It was almost like that scene in Ratatouille when the critic is taken back to his childhood meal upon the first bite of the dish. The first thing to hit me was the sauce. The flavor of the sauce is fresh and robust. Then the crust. I noticed it wasn’t like other pizza crusts I’d had lately. It was crispy, artisan, reminded me of almost a sourdough. I ate less pizza than I normally do. I forced the 3rd slice of my small cheese pizza down because it was just so good. But truth be told it was so rich I maybe could have gotten by with just the one slice for my midday (crazy office) meal. I forgot my leftovers at the office. The next day I ordered another one. Almost because I couldn’t believe how good yesterday’s was. Sure enough, another fantastically perfect pizza appeared on my desk later that afternoon. This time I was able to take even more in. I realized the richness that struck me yesterday was actually the cheese. It’s so buttery. There are three ingredients in a cheese pizza and Cafe Sorelli nails every one. I’m not sure I can ever eat pizza anywhere else again. Quite frankly I just don’t see the point.
