Gary was much loved and respected by his entire Ohio extended family. We will miss him dearly. My early memories of Gary come from the early seventies when he and Bon lived in Columbus Ohio for a short time. Everyone knew Gary was smart but being an actuary myself I was wowed by his brain and work ethic. The way he conquered the Society of Actuaries exams was simply genius. Everyone knew and appreciated his unique sense of humor. Shortly after he arrived in Ohio he would share hilarious accounts of his attempts to adapt to life in the Midwest (might have seemed the Deep South to him). Especially entertaining we’re his stories about his encounters with the parking lot attendant where he worked. You see the attendant spoke with a strong southern drawl so Gary had to translate then reply in his pronounced Boston accent. Each truly could not understand what the other was saying. Suffice it to say that those encounters gave us the gift of many funny stories from Gary. Judy and I have great memories of our time with Bon and Gary in Columbus......Matues Rose at Spirit of 76 Steakhouse, Gary and I chopping firewood(no fingers lost), Bon giving our 2-month-old, breastfed baby her very first bottle while babysitting on Valentines Day(Jenny threw-up), visiting their Williamsburg Square townhouse, Gary and I trying to impress our wives with after dinner cigars at the VIP Room(didn’t work)...so many good times. Thanks for the memories Gar.

Gary was a good friend. He Stanley Feldman and I were almost inseparable in the 60's. we played softball every Sunday at Curtis Park and played table games at Gary's house in Marblehead quite often! We went to Celtics and Bruins games and enjoyed life immensely! My deepest sympathy!

I remember visiting my Aunt Bonnie and Uncle Gary as a kid in the early 80's. I had started little league and Gary was helping me practice my hitting. I was pretty terrible but he was incredibly patient- spending lots of time tossing baseballs to me. He finally asked "have you ever tried to hit left-handed?" It worked- I was much more comfortable, even though I'm naturally a righty. I told my uncle that my coach wouldn't like the idea of an 11-year old switch hitter and Gary said "tell him it worked for Mickey Mantle". I will miss you, Uncle Gary.

The Brush family is sad to learn of the passing of Gary. Gary was the assistant coach to Ron Brush allowing him in many ways to continue coaching through the later years of his illness. It is heartbreaking to figure out that Gary also experienced illness at the end of his life. Gary was a soft spoken,
kind and helpful man. The two coaches had a mutual respect for each other. Our thoughts are with Bonnie and Mindy and Andrew in the sad days ahead.
