Wynelle C. Scenna, an executive administrator for Fresenius Medical Care, passed away after a lengthy battle with cancer at her home surrounded by her family on Friday afternoon, July 9, 2021.  She was 66 years old. Wynelle was born in Alpena Michigan.  She was one of four children born to John and Phyllis Brown.  She grew up in Birmingham, Michigan.  She was a graduate of Southfield Lathrup High School.  She went to go onto to earn her Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from Albion College in Michigan.  In the early 1980’s she moved to the Boston area.  She met her future husband, Robert Scenna, at the Square and Round Dancing at M.I.T.  They married in 1985.  They lived for a number of years in Arlington, before settling in Burlington in 2001.  Wynelle worked as an Executive Administrator at Fresenius Medical Care’s national headquarters in Waltham for over 20 years.  She appreciated the work the company did to improve and lengthen the quality of life for individuals living with chronic kidney disease.  She also appreciated her co-workers who have became lifelong friends.  She was active in the Toastmasters group at work, where she rose to the challenges provided by that organization.

Wynelle was a “Faith Filled Environmentalist” with a huge heart.  From a very early age, she was dedicated to cleaning our environment.  It started with her efforts to help clean the heavily polluted River Rouge in Michigan.  She recruited friends and family to help in the effort to clean the trash filled and oily river.  When she came to Massachusetts, she immediately joined the Friends of the Boston Harbor Islands.  She volunteered for well over 35 years cleaning the beaches, working on projects, and assisting on island tours.  One of the perks of volunteering was camping on Grape Island in the Hingham Bay area of Boston Harbor.  Being on Grape Island, gave her sense of connection to the environment, a purpose for volunteering, and was the place that made her the happiest.

Wynelle had a strong Christian faith.  Over the years, she has been a member of the Hancock United Church of Christ in Lexington, the United Church of Christ Congregational in Burlington, Pleasant Street Congregational Church in Arlington, and the First Church of Christ Scientist in Boston.  She attended Sunday services, acted as a clerk at meetings, helped with the stewardship funds, and participated in Bible study classes, charitable events, fundraisers, and socials.  She was truly a loving and giving person.  She particularly believed in Mathew 25:40 that says, “whatever you did for the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me”. She opened her heart and her home to others experiencing life’s challenges.  She would take them under her wing and walk the journey with them.  She knew that just having faith was not enough, she had to live her faith in her daily life by helping others, speaking up, and doing good.  Wynelle was truly one of those special people who contribute to making a difference in the world and in the lives of those around her.  She will be missed, but always be lovingly remembered.

Wynelle was the beloved wife of Robert V. Scenna. She was the devoted and loving mother of Matthew Scenna and his wife Cyndi of Salem. She was the proud grandmother of Ivan Scenna. She was the caring sister of Jeff Brown of Traverse City, MI, Bryan Brown of Sisters, OR, and Brett Brown of Burlington, formerly of China. She was the loving aunt of Liam and Taylor Brown.
