I lived across the hall from Eleanor and Cheryl at 74 Avon Street in Somerville. They were always so sweet and kind even though my brother and I --and friends probably 'rang and run' their door, they focused on the trick or treating and were so kind to our family.
Eleanor also took me into her home for a week in which my Mom had to head back to Ireland to be with her family when her Dad was ill. My Dad was home, but worked and he and my brother managed and I stayed with Eleanor. It was such a nice experience, I was pretty shy--probably socially anxious --at the time and it was nice to spend time with an older woman who focussed on me the whole time. --that doesn't happen in a very busy family with two working parents and a busy sibling.
They had two cute little dogs, yorkie and poodle (Kristie and Buffy) and when I was about 10, they gave me Buffy, the black poodle, who was an amazing gift. They said they had a hard time looking after both dogs and that I'd be doing them a favor, but I think they saw me and could see I could use a dog friend in my life. --how kind and generous.

Eleanor was a special person to all of us. We loved her greatly and were honored to care for her. We consider Eleanor a true friend, who one could always count on to brighten our day. Her smile was contagious, and she always made us laugh. We feel blessed to have known Eleanor. Much love and prayers to Eleanor and her family!
