Dr. Ankoor Bodhe

Obituary of Dr. Ankoor J. Bodhe

Dr. Ankoor J. Bodhe of Burlington, Massachusetts passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, August 15th. His loving wife of 52 years, Rohini Bodhe and his two daughters, Shephali Sardinha and Monica McCarthy were by his side.

Born in Mumbai, India, Ankoor moved to the United States in 1964 to pursue his doctorate in civil engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he fell in love with the city of Boston. After returning home to marry Rohini, who had been his close friend since they were young children, they returned to Boston to start their new life together. Here, Ankoor worked as a civil engineer for several years but his passion for learning and technology eventually led him to pursue a career in the growing field of computer science.

He had a love for books, wine, and music. He loved long drives along the ocean and could often be found at Barnes & Noble and sitting by the seashore enjoying the sound of the ocean waves and reading. He loved traveling the world and especially returning to India often to spend time with his dear nieces, Dr. Mamta Muranjan and Dr. Sujata Muranjan. One of his favorite places was Ogunquit, Maine, where he vacationed with his family every year, a tradition that his daughters and their families will continue for many years to come. He loved sharing a good meal with family and friends, and discussing the latest news in science, computers, or business, always over a beer or a glass of great wine. And his love for learning and life was contagious. Above all, Ankoor was a loving family man. Always proud when he spoke about his parents, brother, wife, daughters, son-in-laws, and his four grandchildren.

Ankoor is survived by his loving family: Wife, Rohini Bodhe, Daughter and Son-in-Law Shephali and Kevin Sardinha, Daughter and Son-in-Law Monica and Sean McCarthy and four Grandchildren, Jacob and Joshua Sardinha and Aarya and Kellan McCarthy.  The Family will be having private services.
