I absolutely LOVED Big Al! I thought it was Hilarious that whenever he visited the Police Department after he retired, he'd park in the Chief's spot if he found it unoccupied! I was so glad that even after he retired, we were able to stay in touch via E-mail and Facebook. A True Gentleman and a True Friend.

My husband and I both considered Al a friend, for different reasons. My husband is a retired probation officer but for many years he would see Al at various law enforcement seminars throughout the state. He was always helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. Jim loved to trade stories with Al. Everyone knew him and wanted to be around him. For over 18 years, I was a member of the Burlington Junior Woman's Club. Hs was our contact at the police for any projects we did with them. He was simply a joy to work with. He epitomized what good community police work should be. We did a paper boy safety program, a self defense class and a child finger printing project. He even was for a time, a state Judge for our organization. Al will always be remembered as a law enforcement professional with a big heart that loved what he did and everyone loved him.
Rest in piece Al,
Betty and Jim Clark

Uncle Al “the kiddies pal”. I will always remember how much the kids enjoyed his playfulness. He was definitely “the kiddies pal”. When I think of Al, it’s under the carport at June and Dick’s in Andover. We had many laughs and lots of fun at the pool.
Good memories! Sorry for your loss, hugs and prayers to his family.

Al was retired when I came to BPD. From the moment I was introduced to him he made me feel welcome and always had a kind word. It was obvious in our conversations he truly loved being a Burlington Police Officer. It was also obvious when I talked to the officers that worked with and for Al they held him in very high regard. My condolences to his family.

I absolutely adore Al.
As a child he was my father‘s friend. As a kid I remember he would stop by our house with the dog, we went swimming at his house. As a teenager instead of writing me tickets he would call my parents:)
I used to beg him please just give me a ticket.
As time went on we became friends. My kids remember him from many events going on in town they I would always yell there’s your friend the police man.
I was always so happy to see around town or See his Facebook posts to me. we always had great conversations. His favorite story to me was that because of my father he moved to Burlington. He loved to tell me this. I will miss his smile I will miss his big heart and I will miss seeing him. Rest in peace my friend , look up my pop and have a drink.
Yoou will be missed my friend love you ❤️

His laugh was infectious !! As kids we always knew him as the German Shepherd guy. One yard you didn't want to go running through..
He will be missed but never forgotten.. It's been a long road where Sharon and Dave spent countless hours taking him to the doctors, making market runs, staying nights when things weren't quite right. Al is now with your mother and his German Shepherds - taking time out to play some golf - which he has been missing for many years.
