My condolences to all of George’s family. He was one in a million. Always so kind, helpful and caring. No matter what you needed, George had it. I moved from Lantern Lane 20 years ago and I met him at the Billerica Market Basket a couple of years ago and we had the best chat.

So sorry to hear of Mr Moore’s passing. He was a wonderful man. So kind, considerate , and caring. He was a good friend to my parents and also to me. I kept in touch with him and got to visit at times if I was in Burlington. We would also talk on the phone from time to time. I will miss him. I am sure there was a big welcome party when all of the Lantern Lane neighbors met him again. Love to all of you. Jackie and Wayne Rucker (Ballon). Ps we were so lucky to grow up on Lantern Lane

I kept in touch with Mr. Moore for many years. He always had the latest “news” from Lantern Lane. I would call him every now and then or stop by when I was down. We shared conversations about Maine, as he grew up in the small town of Vienna, Maine which was next to Mount Vernon, Maine where I used to live. When I moved to Portland, we talked about Portland in the old days as he remembered it, and about when he courted Mrs. Moore. It was great to hear those stories.
A couple of summers ago, I stood in his backyard and noted how “small” the yard looked, remembering when he made a track for Dennis to ride his go-cart around the backyard. Dennis would give us neighborhood kids a ride, and the yard seemed so big.
Once, and I don’t know how we got on the subject, we talked about my love of musical instruments, particularly violins. And he got up, walked into the other room, came back out and showed me a violin that his uncle had made!
He kept the yard nice and once I left with a clump of his Black-Eyed Susans to plant in my own garden. It was a pleasure knowing and keeping in touch with him. He was one of the “originals” as my dad called the original neighbors— those who came to Lantern Lane, first.
My condolences to Barbara, Gail, Dennis, David and your families. He will be missed.
