Mary J. McGarry, beloved wife of Richard McGarry, loving and devoted mother of Miles and Mason Feeley of Lexington, passed away suddenly while on vacation in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico on Thursday, February 24, 2022.  She was only 53 years old.

Mary was born and raised in Southern, Maryland.  She graduated from Leonardtown High School (class of 86). Her father's family, the Ferbers, were prominent members of the community.  Mary was a hard worker who currently worked as a real estate agent for Barrett Sotheby’s Lexington, Mass., selling commercial and residential real estate in Lexington and the surrounding communities.  Before this Mary worked at Computer Associates, “CA”, which specialized in Agile software development, DevOps, and computer security software. With her hard work and dedication to all she did, Mary once again quickly rose up the ranks of the 1100 person company to become the Vice President of Business Operations.  While Mary lived in Maryland she worked as a Security Specialist at the FBI for 6 years.

Mary was engaging, strong, and a natural leader.  If you wanted to get something accomplished, Mary was the one for the job.

Mary loved her family and life.  Her sons, Miles, and Mason, were the center of her universe.  She was a supportive, encouraging, and extremely protective mother.  She wanted her sons to get good educations and was so proud of their achievements at Lexington High School, Salem University, and University of Maine.  She was blessed to find her soulmate, Richard McGarry.  They were a couple for three years and married on October 7th of 2016.  Their families became one and she brought so much joy into all their lives.  She was always up for an adventure and loved to travel to warm weather destinations. “Beach, Sun, and Fun” was her mantra.   Cabo San Lucas, Punta Cana, Sailing the Caribbean, Florida, and a summer house on Cape Cod were just a few of her favorite vacation destinations.  She was a devoted daughter, a caring sister, and that fun and caring aunt who always knew the perfect thing to say or do.  She loved returning home to “Ferberville” for family reunions and reconnecting with her childhood friends.  She was truly a shining star that entered the hearts of all she cared for filling them with joy, dreams, and love.  And much like a shooting star, her bright light and incredible spirit passed by so quickly leaving all heavy hearts, but incredible memories filled with love and happiness.

She was the daughter of Lynne Ferber of Arcadia, FL and the late Jack Ferber. She was the stepmother of Aimee McGarry of Tyngsboro, Michelle Pastore & her husband John of Chelmsford, and Richie McGarry & his wife LJ of Hampstead, NH.  She leaves her sister Jacqulyn Jenkins, her husband Bobby, and daughter Elizabeth Grey, of Leonardtown, MD. Joanne Dillow & her husband Mark of California, MD, and Sarah Shaffer of FL. She was the proud grandmother of Adeline & Isla Pastore and Bentley, Mia, & Madison McGarry.  Mary was also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and friends.

Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., Burlington on Friday, March 4 from 4-7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the Lutheran Church of The Redeemer, 60 Forest Park Rd, Woburn, www.redeemerwoburn.org on Saturday, March 5 at 10:30 a.m. Masks must be worn at the Funeral Service.  The burial will be private.  Memorials in Mary’s name may be made to the Cotting School, care of the Advancement Office, 453 Concord Ave, Lexington, MA 02421, www.cotting.org.
