Josephine “Rose” Bolognese, a hairdresser and homemaker passed away at the Life Care Center in Stoneham on Thursday night, February 21, 2013. She was 89 years old. Rose was the daughter of Polish immigrants, the late John and Mary Dzierzek. She grew up and was educated in Danvers. She was married to her husband Frank for 51 years. They had 2 sons and had made their home in Malden since 1960. Rose had an unwavering devotion to all of her family which she expressed in the simple acts of love and kindness. She was a talented seamstress and made dresses and outfits for herself and clothes for her sons. She grew up in a home steep in Polish heritage and foods, and when she married her Italian husband she learned to cook all plus more of his favorite Italian dishes. She enjoyed working in her flower and vegetable gardens, often sharing her harvest with family and friends. She made a point that Saturday and Sunday dinners were to be a family event. All of these acts were not glamorous but show her constant concern for the wellbeing and happiness of her family. She knew from her mother the importance of being a mother and homemaker. It gave her great joy each time she became a grandmother. She was very independent and self sufficient and wouldn’t hesitate to go shovel her driveway well into her 80’s. She travelled to Poland to see her family and roots and also to Italy to retrace his journey thru Italy during WW II. Rose had also worked as a hairdresser for a number of Salons in the Malden area. Rose was the beloved wife of the late Frank Bolognese. She was the loving mother of Frank Bolognese & his wife Noelia “Lala” of Saugus and Stephen Bolognese & his wife Ann of Stoneham. She was the sister of Helen Welch of Danvers, Sophie Morris of VA and the late Frances Kasprzyk and John, William and Ed Dzierzek. She was the proud grandmother of Christopher of Reading, Stephen and Ashley of Stoneham. She was the special aunt of Judy Dery of Danvers and Samantha Dery of Beverly. Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Wednesday, Feb. 27 at 10:30 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St., Burlington at 11:30 a.m. Visiting hours Tuesday 4-8 p.m. Interment in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
