I was six years old when the new neighbors arrived next door. Some young handsome guy named "Nick," and his beautiful new bride "Joanne." He drove an awesome red TR-6 and within a few months, or so it seemed, he had a dog. A black shepherd he named Deacon. I didn't have a dog, so I kind of adopted theirs... and they seemed to love it. To me he was, and will always be, "Mister Cincotti." Even as his great kids came along, he remained "more than a neighbor," as did his whole family. He was the man who kept me from being grounded for life when I flushed something down the toilet that got stuck WAAAY down the pipe. I remember he and my dad tearing out plumbing to get to the clog. They were laughing between themselves, but certainly not at me. This was not how Mr. Cincotti planned on spending a Saturday, fixing a neighbor's plumbing because their dumb kid flushed something down it. But... it was never mentioned again. Because families are like that. Like everyone, the man I see in the mirror today is not the six year old boy who was smitten by Mr and Mrs. Cincotti, their dog, and their kids... but in my mind "Kixie," as his brothers and my dad called him, is forever young. He is still that young, vibrant man with the cool car, the gorgeous wife, the great dog, and the babies. He always will be. We are gutted. Please accept our deepest condolences and love.
