Obituary of Claire Murphy

Claire Murphy, beloved wife of the late John “Jack” Murphy, passed away on August 31st, 2022 at the age of 87. Claire was born in Woburn, MA to Hugh and Anna Martin. Claire graduated from St. Charles High School in Woburn and attended Bentley College in Boston. Claire met her future husband Jack Murphy, a recently discharged Air Force Veteran, who served in Korea, in 1957 and the connection was instant. They married in 1958.

In 1965, Claire and Jack bought a home in Burlington where they would reside for the next 50 years. Claire and Jack had 4 children.  Claire gave up her working career happily took on her role of caregiver, mother, supportive wife, and homemaker.  Once the kids were older, Claire went back to the workforce. She worked as a bookkeeper for Mattress Man on Cambridge Street in Burlington for 13 years. She then went on to be a bookkeeper at Mass AV where she worked for 5 years. 

When Claire wasn’t working, she made a loving home for her family. Claire loved to cook for them, and even went on to take culinary classes at Shawsheen Valley Technical High School night classes.  During her retirement years, Claire and Jack enjoyed wintering at Lighthouse Point  and Deerfield Beach Florida. The two loved to play golf together.

Claire Murphy was the beloved wife of the late John “Jack” Murphy. She was the loving mother of Christopher Murphy of Burlington, Carolyn Beltran of Tewksbury, Colleen Notturno & her husband Michael of Leominster and Dennis Murphy & his wife Kerri of Atkinson, NH. Claire was the dear sister of  Richard Martin of Bedford, NH, and the late Evelyn Love, Marie, Hugh, Robert, Rita and Frank  and Louise Martin. .She was the beloved grandmother to Ryan, Bradley & Jason Murphy, Deven & Cassidy Beltran, Chelsea Whitney, Brian Hennigan, Ava & Riley Murphy and the late Daniel Simard. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, September 3rd at 10:00 AM at St. Malachy’s Church, in St. Veronica Parish, 99 Bedford St. Burlington. Burial to follow in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Burlington.
