Ruth A. (Filoramo) a woman who embraced life, loved her family, and had a strong Catholic faith passed away at her home with all her family around her bedside on Tuesday, December 20, 2022.  She was 91 years old.  Ruth was born in Wakefield.  She was one of eight children born to Italian immigrants, Joseph and Josephine Filoramo.  She had a wonderful childhood growing up in Wakefield and was a graduate of Wakefield High School.  She married her husband, Richard Capuci, in 1952 and they had six children.  She was the family matriarch, and she did it with her own style and flair.  She was a bit sassy, feisty, humorous, and dramatic.  Her small stature didn’t stop her from bossing her six plus foot sons around.  She could make a routine event like going to a grocery store and make it memorable and comedic story.  Her home was never a dull place.  It was filled to the brim with family and friends, laughter, and a whole bunch of love.  Everyone was welcomed and there was always room at the dinner table for guests.  Summers with her children were spent at Keoka Beach Campground in Waterford, ME.  After 20 years there, she created countless lifelong friendships.  In the later years, there were many weekends spent at her husband’s family cottage in Tamworth, New Hampshire.  The cottage only had 3 rooms, but it was always packed with family and memories.

Ruth embraced life, never met a stranger, and was always ready for an adventure.  She and her husband, Richard, made a great team.  She ran the house and he did the cooking.  When they took the dance floor, others stopped to admire their grace. They were active members of the Son’s of Italy in Wakefield partaking in many of their socials and charitable events.  They had a strong Catholic faith and strengthened it at St. Florence Church.  She was a lifelong parishioner, and they were regular communicants.  She was a member of the Sodality.  They helped start and run the Tuesday night Bingo at the church.  He would do the cooking for the food concession, and she would handle the money.  They loved attending the St. Florence New Year’s Eve dance.  To say Ruth was outgoing would-be an understatement.  She had lasting friendships from all her different stages of her life.  She regularly spent hours at the local McDonald’s sipping coffee and catching up with old friends. She could make people smile and laugh without even trying.  Her warmth, zeal for life, and spirit made others feel welcomed, appreciated, and loved.  She could meet someone for the first time and at the end of the conversation she would end with her trademark “I Love You”, which was truly sincere.  Ruth was always ready for a journey.  She traveled all over the world with her husband, children, and her grandchildren.  She wintered in Florida, traveled to Alaska, Italy, the Holy Land, Spain, the Caribbean, Disney, and numerous other destinations.  She was much more than a sightseer.  She immersed herself in the experience.  She carried the cross as she walked the stations of the cross on the Via Dolorosa, saw her mother’s birthplace in Italy, talked to the locals, took expeditions, rode the scariest rides and rollercoasters, and created lasting memories.  She was a bright and shining star who brightened the lives of everyone she touched.  She will be sadly missed, but her memory will always bring a special recollection and then a smile to all those she loved in her life.

Ruth was the beloved wife of the late Richard Capuci.  She was the loving mother of Richard Capuci & his wife Marjorie of Bradenton, FL, David Capuci & his wife Sharon of Seabrook, NH, Ruthann Capuci of Wakefield, Susan Capuci of Woburn, Paula Berg & her husband John of Wakefield, and Rev. John Capuci of Wakefield and pastor of St. Charles Borromeo Church. She was the sister-in-law of Ann Filoramo of Wakefield.  She was predeceased by siblings and their spouses; Rose Fratto & her husband Orlando, Mary DeMartino & her husband Raymond, Frances DiStaula & her husband John, Peter Filoramo & his wife Eleanor, Josephine Asci & her husband Ernie, Stephanie Bacigalupo & her husband Thomas, and Robert Filoramo.  She was the proud grandmother of Melinda Pontone, Maila Campbell, Nicole Chaitman, Kelsey Mansfield, Torie Cohen, Jamie Berg, Wonda Edwards, and the late Richard Capuci.  She was also survived many great grandchildren and friends.
