Dear Vivan - I am so sorry to hear of Dan's illness and passing. I will always remember him as an amazingly dedicated colleague and a wonderful person. One night, several years ago, when we were both working on our budgets in Kenmore close to 11 pm, I passed by his office and mentioned that I was running down the street to get a sandwich. He insisted on going with me since it was so late so that I would be safe! I will never forget his kindness. My thoughts are with you and your kids. Linda Drake

Most importantly I remember all his family stories and pride in sharing them with those of us at the DCS. I feel luck to have known Dan. My thoughts are with your family at this difficult time. I remember the first day I met Dan. He had come to the Burlington Harvard Vanguard for an interview for the Supervisor’s job in Internal Medicine. Imagine, he was about to be grilled by 8 medical assistants. He wasn’t intimidated. Dan was very energetic, sincere and very positive. Yes, we all thought he was quite good looking as well. He was hired and we were thrilled. He started right in and met with each of us individually and he really listened to us. We knew he cared. Although I left shortly after he arrived to work in Chelmsford, I knew the department was going to be in good hands. Over the years, our paths crossed many times at HVMA and he was always smiling and no matter how busy he was, he always stopped to chat and was interested in how my life was going. He proudly spoke of his kids and how well they were doing. I was shocked to learn of his death as I had seen he and Vivian a little over a year ago in Kohl’s. He was very excited about the business he had started and how well it was going and we launched into a long conversation about LEAN and how that was working at HVMA. I learned last night from Vivian that it was shortly after that he got sick. She said he fought hard and I certainly was not surprised about that. My prayers are with you Vivian and your family.

My childhood memories of all us cousins together at 214 Hampton Heath Rd. Spending carefree summers together, will be engraved into my heart forever! As adults, our lives became very distant, only seeing each other rarley. But those memories from a time not that long ago ... :-)
It's comforting to know that though your life was short you are now in the gentle hands of our Heavenly Father. Without pain, without suffering.

I was so sorry to hear of Dan's passing. He was such a vibrant personality with a constant smile and admirable dedication to his family and people he worked with. I first met Dan when he was a young man (probably still in college) selling silverware. I remember him vividly because he was the most energetic salesperson I ever encountered. Many years later I had the pleasure of working with Dan at the DCS and wasn't one bit surprised when I realized who he was. Although much more mature and refined, he brought the same energy and passion to his position as Director of the DCS. I feel immense sadness that his life was so short. He will be sorely missed by all.

I am so sorry to hear about Dan's passing. I had the privilege to work with him at Harvard Vanguard over many years. He was professional, smart, engaging and always positive. He was a can do leader who I could count on to get things done. He never saw a problem he wasn't willing to tackle, and was one of my favorite leaders at HVMA.
Vivian, my very best to you and the kids as you work through this tough time. I know you will find a way to get through this. If I can help just say the word.
To the kids, I want you to know how much your Dad meant to the folks he worked with. Everyone loved him and found him to be a very personable and special guy. He talked about the two of you often and was so very proud of you.
My love and prayers are with you during this very difficult time.

So long my good friend. We haven't seen much of each other over the years since our early university days, but you and Vivian always remained close in my heart. That's the kind of effect you had on people - a very long lasting and positive one, full of fun, humour, honesty, curiosity, respect and humility.
I have quite literally come to know hundreds of people from all over the world over the past 25 years, and have to say I've been hard pressed to find someone with the character and integrity that Danny had. It's at times like this that we come to realize how brief a life can be, but the lasting effect is eternal. We'll miss you, Bud! But you'll always be with us in our hearts!

The word that comes to mind is dignity. Even in your final days you were thinking about others, encouraging us to speak and grieve with you. I will always remember your saying "I have no regrets". Only 49 years old, but what a gift that is to the completeness of your life.
Your spirit--soul was a gentle one. One with great dignity. My last words to you will stand forever, "God Bless you Dan"...
