Obituary of Jean Louise Antonuccio

Jean Louise Antonuccio, a registered nurse, loving wife and beloved mother, passed away on August 11, at the age of 86. Jean was born and raised in Malden, MA. After graduating from Cheverus Catholic High School, Jean went onto nursing school where she became a registered nurse. She went on to work at Whidden Memorial Hospital in Everett, MA.

She and Anthony “Tony”  began a relationship as friends and over time developed into a beautiful love story. They moved to Malden, got married and after a few months, settled in Burlington, where they raised their three kids, Scott, Kimberly and Lisa.

Jean loved to host in their Burlington home. They hosted pool parties and cookouts and many more events. Jean was always in charge of the cooking. Though she was Irish, she learned how to cook Italian food to make sure her Italian husband could eat the food he grew up eating. She made biscotti’s, pizzelles, hermit bars and her famous manicotti. Jean also cooked Irish food, making a corned beef hash for St. Patrick’s Day every year. Cooking was something she made sure to pass down to her kids.

Jean and Tony loved to travel together. After both she and Tony retired, they started to snowbird down to Palm Bay Florida. It was great for them to get away from the cold, but also to have a place for the family to come down and visit. Jean and Tony were always happy to open their home to their kids and grandkids that came down to go to Disney, Universal, and Busch Gardens and enjoy time together. Both in Florida and Burlington, Jean and Tony hosted “Field Trips” for the kids, which included visiting places like Fenway Park, George’s Island, the Boston Duck Boats, Swan Boats and the Saugus Iron Works. When venturing away from home, Jean enjoyed going on cruises down to the Caribbean, and even flying to Hawaii.

Jean in her free time was an avid reader. She liked to read all types of books. She also liked to play cribbage and go bowling. One thing she always continued to do through her life was to make sure she remained as a registered nurse. She was so proud to be a nurse and always stayed up with her educational requirements and remained a nurse until she passed. She was able to help coach the nurses to whom she was a patient even just recently.

Jean will be remembered as a woman who was extremely generous, tenacious and persistent. She took care of her family and friends first and always put others before herself.  She would use professional or life lessons to educate others. Her determination can be summed up with the story of getting her driving license while 9 months pregnant, and learning how to drive Tony’s manual Volkswagen that she had to dive up a steep hill every day. She’ll be dearly missed by many.

Jean was the daughter of the late Andrew Farrell and Bernice Enos, both of Malden, MA.  She was the beloved wife of Anthony Antonuccio of Burlington, MA.  She was the loving mother of Scott Antonuccio and his wife Sherri Reynolds of Pittsboro, NC, Kimberly Hildebrand and her husband Douglas of Nashua, NH, and Lisa Scott of Clarksville, TN.  Jean was the caring grandmother of Kayla Snodgrass and her husband Tyler of Clarksville, TN, Danny Hildebrand of Nashua, NH, Rebecca Scott of Burlington, Joseph Hildebrand and his wife Victoria of Nashua, NH, Shawn Scott of Burlington, and Wil Donegan of Pittsboro, NC.  Jean is predeceased by her siblings Andrew Farrell and Bernice “Bunny” Farrell.

Jean’s life will be celebrated during a memorial mass on Wednesday, August 16, 2023 at 10:00 AM at St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn Street, Burlington, MA 01803. Burial will be private.
