Obituary of Carl Arthur Lewis

Carl Arthur Lewis passed suddenly on September 9, 2023.  He was 60 years old.  Carl was born in Winchester.  His family lived in Burlington for a number of years and then moved to Salem, NH.  He was a graduate of Salem High School.  Many described Carl as a “Free Spirit”.  He was a hard worker from a very early age.  His first job was at Friendly’s at the age of 13.  It didn’t take long after high school for Carl to find his career path.  He had a love of music along with the thrill of going to concerts.  So, he has spent the last 40 years in the entertainment business.  He spent much of his time working as a merchandising vendor for Bravado International Group and others as a merchandising vendor.  He traveled with bands and celebrities selling concert merchandise.  For Carl, there was nothing like being on the road.  He has seen every state and some of Canada during his years of touring.  The bands and celebrities included the likes of Trace Atkins, Big & Rich, Ringo Star, Billy Joel, Jimmy Buffet, Adam Sandler, and countless others.  He made sure he saw the landmarks and visited the best restaurants at each destination.  He would often call his family with the question “Do you know where I am now”?  He also owned his own merchandising company called CLK, a Lighting Company that supplied lights at events, and a Video DJ Company when it was in its infancy.

Carl had a great connection with his family.  He was a proud and devoted father to his son Conner.  He was pleased to see Conner follow his path in the merchandising industry.  His dog, “Walter”, was like another child to him.  He was a devoted son to his mother, Nancy.  The “Basin” in Tuftonboro on Lake Winnipesaukee was the family gathering space for the family for 4 generations.  It was their own little compound.  As a youth there was waterskiing, boating, flying with his grandfather, and countless adventures. When he was older, he would spend his days on his boat, a Four Winns Liberator driving on full throttle.  Evenings were spent with his siblings, nieces, nephew, extended family and friends reminiscing, catching up, sharing stories.  Carl also had an extensive T-Shirt and Merchandise collection from all the years on the road.  Carl’s life ended so abruptly.  He had some heart issues, but he still went to a concert in Albany, NY, because he was going to live his life no matter what.

Carl was the proud father of Conner Weisz of Tampa, FL.  He was the son of Nancy (Norden) DiMarino of Burlington and Daniel Lewis of Georgia.  Stepson of the late Peter DiMarino, Sr.  Brother of Danny Lewis of Salem, NH, Peter DiMarino & his wife Kristin of Atkinson, NH.  He was the stepbrother of Cookie DiMarino of Stoneham, Linda Gravell & her husband John of Methuen, Debbie Fraser & her husband Jim of Wilmington, and Anthony DiMarino of Londonderry, NH.  He was the fun uncle to Alycia, Daniel, Alexandria, Ashley, Emily, and Kaylee.  He was the former companion and dear friend to Wanda Weisz of Tampa, FL.  He was like a son to Haz Leeman of Burlington.  He was also survived by many dear friends.

There will be visiting hours held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., Burlington on Wednesday, September 13 from 4-7 p.m.  Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.  Memorials in Carl’s name may be made to the Grammy Rose Dog Rescue Sanctuary, Inc.   www.grammyrose.org, 1542 Route 109, Acton, ME 04001
