Obituary of Rich Mellor

Richard Paul Mellor of Billerica, MA, formerly of Burlington, MA sadly passed away on January 29th from natural causes. He was 70 years old. He was the beloved husband to the late Marcia (Kukis). Loving father of Richard Mellor and his wife Stephanie of Billerica, MA. Loving father to Steven Mellor and his wife Melinda of Plaistow, NH. He is the beloved Grandfather “Papa” to Evelyn, Charlotte, Trey, and Tanner Mellor.

Richard graduated from Burlington High School as part of the Class of 1972. It was at Burlington High School where he met the love of his life and future wife Marcia Kukis. After high school Richard and Marica lived in Germany for a year while he pursued a career in electrical engineering. When they returned the United States they got married and started their family in Billerica, MA. 

Richard had many passions in life. He enjoyed fishing, billiards, softball and motorcycles. He always had a special place in his heart for playing chess. He especially enjoyed the time he spent playing chess with his brother-in-law and dear friend Robert Kukis of Northborough MA. His weekly chess games were always something that he really looked forward to. 

During the warm seasons you would often see him riding around town on his motorcycle. He would go off for hours with no particular destination in mind. He would always come home with a smile on his face. It was easy to see that being out on that motorcycle was just good for his soul. 

His family and all who knew him are filled with sadness. He will be missed dearly.

Visiting hours for Rich will be held on Friday, February 2, from 4 to 7 PM at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, Burlington, MA 01803. A funeral Service for Rich will be held on Saturday, February 3, at 10:30 AM at the Sullivan Funeral Home. Burial at Pine Haven Cemetery, 84 Bedford Street, Burlington, MA 01803 to follow.
