Obituary of Marcia Haley
Marcia A. Haley, passed away unexpectedly on Monday morning, July 15, 2013. She was 76 years old.
Marcia was born in Boston, the daughter of the late Francis and Marion Foley. She grew up and was educated in Cambridge. She was a graduate of Cambridge High & Latin. It was in high school that she sat behind a young man named Frank Haley in English. They became high school sweethearts. They were Prom dates and both graduated from Cambridge High and Latin in 1955 and then married in September of 1956. Many say that opposites attract, but that was not true for them. They mirrored and complimented each other in so many ways. They were both outgoing, who had countless circles of friends, and both made those in their company feel welcome and appreciated. Once someone passed through their lives, they were always remembered and it didn’t matter if it was a year or 70 years, they always remembered your name. It was a gift. They both served on their high school reunion committee, loved to dance, theater, travel, vacationing on the beaches of Cape Cod and Gloucester. They loved each other’s company, but also gave each other space to have their own circle of friends whether it was the friends from the Knights of Columbus or the girls from Curves.
Marcia had worked for a number of companies over the years as a secretary and customer service agent. She started with a scientific firm until she became a mother. After her children entered school she went back to work as a lunch monitor at Fox Hill School. She then worked at MKS Instruments in Burlington for over 10 years and ended her working career at CAM Office Services in Woburn. She loved working, being productive, and the companionship of coworkers. She never missed a day of work and had an incredible work ethic. Marcia’s leisure time was never filled with idleness. She always had lunch dates, outings to the theater, dancing, attending all her grandchildren’s sporting events and activities, or just making time to catch up with friends. She was a wonderful cook and a big fan of the Red Sox, with Ted Williams being her all-time favorite player. She embraced everyday of her life and will be forever remembered and loved by all her family and friends.
Marcia was the beloved wife of the late Francis “Frank” Haley. She was the loving mother of Nancy Haley-Murphy & her husband Dan of Reading, Jeff & his wife Sherry of Yarmouth, ME, Brian & his wife Kristen of Burlington, and Beth Minka & her husband Tom of San Rafael, CA. Sister of the late Jean Greider and Doris Dutton and sister-in-law of John Dutton of CA and Deborah Weaver-Gourd of Beverly. She was the proud grandmother of Brendan & Ryan Murphy and Meagan & Kevin Haley. Marcia was also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
