Obituary of Louise Raia
Louise (Costa) Raia, loving wife of the late Edward Raia, died early Saturday morning November 30, 2013 at the Lexington Health Care Center after a long illness. Born in Cambridge on May 23, 1926. She was the daughter of the late Mary Todi Costa and Joseph Costa. Louise lived in Arlington before moving to Burlington. During World War II, Louise was a singer and entertainer at the USO. After her marriage, Louise's passions were her home and cooking for her family and friends.
Louise was the beloved wife of the late Edward Raia. Sister of the late William Carriera. Cousin of Helen Saltmarsh of Woburn, Dolores Perry Durrell & her husband Roland of Billerica and the late Merna Prugnarola. Aunt of Katherine & John Carvalho of NH. Also survived by many additional nieces and nephews. A visiting hour will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., Burlington (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Wednesday, Dec. 4 from 10-11 a.m. Followed by Burial in the Massachusetts National Cemetery Bourne at 1:30 p.m. Memorials in Louise’s name may be made to the Fisher House Boston, PO Box 230, S.
