I remember as a child growing up across the street from the Astulfi's Cape home how warm, kind, and humorous Mr. Astulfi was. My sympathies to the family as you must miss him but I believe he is in a grande place for a life well lived.

I wish to convey my condolenced to the family of ET-3 Stephen Astulfi. I was also a crewman of the U.S.S.Pierce (DD-753) but was aboard in 1965 when she was transferred to the Naval Reserve Fleet. At the time of my reporting aboard I was a Boatswain's Mate 3rd class, a "reserve" at the time and the neuclus crew dispised reserves, but..we were put to work doing our jobs. I was assigned to the forecastle to supervise line handlers on #1 #'s 2 & 3 lines which held us fast to the pier in Brooklyn Navy Ship Yard. New York City
I was notified of ET-3 Astulfi's passing by another crewman Cecil Thompson, the president of the J.R.Pierce crewmen's association to which I belong being a former crewman.
Please accept my sincerest condolence on Stephen's passing..he is in God's hands now. My the Lord, our God ease your pain.
respectfully,
Gary W Williams

Dear Kay, Karen, Steve and Suzanne,
I have so many wonderful childhood memories of family get togethers on Baxter lane with you all. The boat rides with Uncle Steve and listening to all his stories. I remember the summer you all tried to teach us Murphy kids how to water ski, what a calamity that was! How could you know your Murphy cousins all had 2 left feet. Uncle Steve always made us feel so warmly welcome and never failed to entertain. I know he leaves a huge hole in your lives, my thoughts and prayers are with you all during this solemn time.
Love, Ellen
