On behalf of my Aunt Denise and my cousins Vaso, Christina and Dimitri, thank you all for being with us tonight. My uncle was an amazing man. He was a loving husband, a doting father, the coolest uncle ever, and the best friend you could ever have. Family meant everything to him. In some ways, our family could be considered small, but not if you knew Andy. Family was everything to him. From his immediate family, to his family in Greece, his Millbury Family, his pizza shop family, his extended family – if you knew Andy, then you were family.
There is no way that I could capture everything that Andy entailed. From those of us who have known him for many years to those of us who just met him, we are all fortunate to have loved him – but more importantly, to have been loved by him. And he loved all of us.
It doesn’t’ seem fair that Andy was taken from us so soon but even more so, that our family should have to go through 2 of us fighting a battle at the same time. No matter what he was going through, he was always worried about me. He would hold my hand and we would talk about how we felt., the aches and pains and the uncertainty. …He told me he was not going anywhere until he saw his garden in full bloom – and he did.
My uncle was the strongest person I know. Not because he came from Greece with nothing and ended up with everything. Not because he met Denise, started a family and was successful in all that he did. Not because, he worked hard for everything he achieved. Not because he fought a long, hard battle with cancer. My uncle was the strongest person I know because he took on a 4 foot 11 inch, tough as nails, strict, Irish Catholic woman from Roxbury and he won. My grandmother, who went to church every week and said the rosary every day, who did not want to give this Greek Orthodox man, that spoke broken English a chance, ended up ordering blueberry pies for "my"Andy, as she called him, any chance she got. And that my friends, was amazing.
Andy was the love of my aunt’s life. And to think of Denise without Andy, doesn’t seem possible. 2 for 1 in love they would say to each other. A love that, 37 years ago , no one gave much of a chance. That same love is the love that we all hope we are lucky enough to have. Andy would want us to surround Denise with love, so I ask all of you tonight to do that. In the days, weeks, months ahead, remind her of how truly loved she is.
He was overjoyed that Vaso and Mike were engaged. He was the ecstatic father 2 weeks ago, welcoming people to his home, sitting in his grape patio, and bringing us all to tears with his speech. He will always be watching over you,
He loved his gardens - his vegetables, his flowers. He spent hours taking care of them - and he was so happy knowing that Christina and Jason would be carrying on for him. Every flower that blooms and every vegetable that grows, is him sending his love to you.
Dimitri who was never far from his thoughts. His only son, left to take care of his mother and sisters – he knew that you would take his place.
We will miss hay –o-papay-o and money band aids. We will miss sitting with him on his patio, - under his grape vines. Each of us will miss something different about Andy – but we will all miss his warm smile, his welcoming arms and his gentle way. Rest easy Uncle Andy, if anyone deserves it, it’s you.

Hello to everyone.
I am Eleftheria, cousin of Andreas from Greece. I just learnt the sad news about the passing of my beloved cousin. I would like to express my deepest condolences to everyone in our family but especially to his wife and kids. Denis, i know you are going through some hard times, you and the kids. I want you to know that my thoughts and prayers are sent to you in the hopes of taking away some of the sadness.
Andreas was the protagonist in the most parts of my childhood. He was always there for me, always finding time to talk to me, to tease me, make me laugh despite all he difficulties he had in his life. This was our Andreas, loving, giving. caring, hardworking, stubborn and a daredevil. He was a wonderful man and i am sorry that we didn't get to be together to grow up like we did when we were children.
Our condolences and our love to everyone in the family. May he rest in peace.
