Obituary of Fern Louise Coleman
***Online Register Book is temporarily not working*** Fern Louise Coleman a retired administrator at the Harvard Law School passed away after a long illness on at the Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston on Saturday, September 27, 2014. She was 58 years old.
Fern was born in Boston. She grew up in Burlington and was a 1973 graduate of Burlington High School. She attended Rogers Williams University and earned her Bachelors of Science Degree in Education from Cambridge College. She worked as an administrator at the Harvard Law School. Working in a college was the perfect fit for Fern because she had a constant thirst for knowledge and working at Harvard gave her access to classes in a wide variety of fields. She took classes in art, religion, architecture, novels, French, government, archeology, folklore, and any other subject that peaked her interest. When she wasn’t studying, she was a veracious reader. She loved museums and traveling around Europe and the United States. She was into genealogy. She was a volunteer at the Lyric Theater. She had a keen mind and acumen. She was always wanting to dive deeper into a belief, social cause, and religion. Fern was the type of person who could talk about almost anything with anyone and make the people she was sharing with feel understood and appreciated. She was truly a special woman.
Fern was a woman of deep religious faith. She learned her faith at the United Church of Christ Congregational Church as a child and deepened her faith at the Boston Harbor Community Church . She shared her faith as a religion teacher and participating in Drama plays. She enjoyed reading and sharing scripture and was continuously working to deepen her conviction. It was Fern’s wishes that her Memorial Service be held at her childhood church, with a childhood friend, Rev. Kenneth Landing current Pastor, Rev. Dave Wenrich, and friends to celebrate her life and salvation.
Fern was the loving daughter of Dolores (Chisholm) Coleman of Palm Bay, FL and the late Whitney Coleman. She was the loving sister of Jeffrey Coleman & his wife Carol of Palm Bay, FL. She was the proud aunt of Jennifer Marcaurelle of FL and Jason & James Coleman both of NH and great aunt of Christian Marcaurelle, Trenten and Rylee Coleman. Fern is also survived by many wonderful and supportive friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at the United Church of Christ Congregational, 6 Lexington St., Burlington, MA on Saturday, October 11 at noon. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Fern’s name may be made to a charity of one’s own choice. Retired Harvard University employee. Arrangements by the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, BURLINGTON.
