Obituary of Salvatore Ventolino

Salvatore Ventolino, a resident of Woburn for 29 years, passed away at the Winchester Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer, on Sunday afternoon, November 23, 2014. The beloved husband of 34 years of Joanne (Malvarosa) he was 61 years old. Sal was born in small town in Southern Italy called Sperone. He was one of 4 children born to the late Giovanni and Antonietta Ventolino. As a young child, his family came to the United States and settled in Everett. Sal had a strong work ethic. He never worked just 40 hours a week. For most of his life, he worked full time as a truck driver and then part time as a security guard. He worked for over 20 years as a driver for Airgas, (formerly WESCO and AGA Gas) a distributor of industrial, medical and specialty gases. He loved being on the road and working independently. Sal’s friendly and outgoing demeanor made him a favorite with his corporate customers that he delivered to and well as his fellow employees. He also worked part time for Alliance Security for over 20 years as well. He enjoyed being productive and wanted be the best provider he could be for his family. He also served in the Army National Guard for 6 years as well. Sal was a passionate individual. When he married and had children, Sal focused his life on caring for his family. He was a giver in the best sense. He had kind heart and would do anything for anyone. His family always came first. He helped build their home. He was always working around his house and maintaining his yard. He was a devoted husband to his wife Joanne for 34 years. Sal simply loved being a Dad and Grandfather. He loved sharing in his family’s lives. He was there to support his son in sports including baseball, soccer, hockey and golf as well as theatre. He had a special relationship with his daughter Jenn never missing a softball game, soccer game, skating event, theatre production or one of her ballet recitals. His grandson Jayden was the light of his life and in later years Sal took great joy and pride in attending all of Jayden’s activities. Sal was blessed to be a daily part of Jayden’s life. Sal’s great enjoyment in recent years was to watch movies and sit by a fire with his family. He took his family on getaways to New Hampshire and Florida. It is difficult for Sal’s family to accept his passing at such a young age, but he leaves them with endless memories filled with love, concern, and laughter. Sal was the loving husband of Joanne (Malvarosa). He was the loving father of Jennifer Ventolino and John Ventolino both of Woburn. He was the son of the late Giovanni & Antonietta Ventolino. He was the brother of Grace Aliperta of Winchester, Rose Feudo & her husband Anthony of Reading and Carmela Barone & her husband Guy of Revere. He was the proud grandfather of Jayden Castriotta of Woburn. He was the son-in-law of Jennie Malvarosa of Woburn and the late Stanley Malvarosa Jr. and brother-in-law of Annette & Gary Fuller and Stanley III & Marianne Malvarosa of Woburn. Sal was also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends. Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128 Woburn side) on Saturday, Nov. 29 at 8:45 am. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Patrick Church, 71 Central St., Stoneham at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Friday 4-8 p.m. Interment in Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn.
