Katrina Joanne Przyjemski or as her friends called her “Katie” or “Kat” passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, Dec. 6, 2014. She was 32 years old. Katie was born in Boston. She grew up in Carlisle and was a graduate of Concord Carlisle High School. Katie loved knowledge and experiencing the world. She was a 2004 Summa Cum Laude graduate of Vassar College where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Environmental Studies. She then attended Oxford University where she earned a Bachelor of Philosophy Degree and then a DPhil (PhD) in Philosophy. She is completing her Philosophy PhD at New York University where she had a 4.0 average. She was extremely well respected by her peers, students and professors. She had received numerous awards and fellowships including Mellon Dissertation Completion Fellowship, MacCracken Award, Claredon Award, Honorary Scholar at Corpus Christi College, United Kingdom Overseas Research Student Award, Vassar Maguire Fellowship, U.S. Congressional Morris K. Udall Foundation Scholar Excellence Award, National Kidney Foundation College Fellowship, Massachusetts Women’s Club College Fellowship, and Fleet Bank Albert E. & Evelyn Black Scholarship Award. She had made numerous presentations on a wide variety of topics at universities and colleges all over the United States and Europe. Katie lived life to the fullest. She was a physical fitness fanatic. She was a dedicated runner, often running 10 miles a day. She had competed in a number of marathons, “Tough Mutters” and even raced to the Top of Mt. Washington several times. Her energy also extended to wanting to see the world. She traveled extensively in Europe, India, as well as many countries in Asia. She was always seeking more knowledge and understanding. Katie will be remembered for her sensitivity, concern, determination, generosity and outgoing nature. Her passing is difficult to accept, but she leaves endless memories filled with wisdom, love, and laughter. Katie was the loving daughter of Anne (Dunn) of Burlington, formerly of Carlisle, and Joseph of Shirley. Sister of Karina of Burlington. Also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. A celebration of her life will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (exit 34 off Rt. 128/95, Woburn side) on Saturday, Dec. 13 at 1 p.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
