Obituary of Frank Bartlett
Franklin “Frank” Bartlett, an active Mason for over 50 years passed away after a long battle with Alzheimer’s at his home on Saturday night, March 7, 2015. He was 89 years old. Frank was born in Malta and grew up in the town of Farnborough, England. In 1943, he enlisted in the British Navy and proudly served his country.
Frank was the loving husband of Sandra J. (Moore) Bartlett of Burlington and the late Margaret L. (Babylon) Bartlett. He was the loving father of Franklin “Frank” & his wife Geri of Ocala, FL, Dorothy “Dottie” Bartlett Yeadon of Burlington, John & his wife Carol of Palm Bay, FL, Ralph & his wife April of Billerica, Elizabeth “Beth” DiSessa & her husband Tony of Londonderry, NH, and Brian & his wife Trixi of Billerica. He was the stepfather of Caroline DiDonatis & her husband Arthur of North Reading and Philip Matonis & his wife Judy of Northfield, OH. He was predeceased by his brother, the late Peter Bartlett of England. Frank was also survived by 21 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren.
Frank was employed for 22 years as a painter at Simplex Wire and Cable in Cambridge then worked for another 22 years with Cambridge Electric (COM Energy-NSTAR) as a maintenance craftsman. He was a longtime member of Saint Mark’s Episcopal Church in Burlington. Frank was very active in the Masons where he served as a Master of the Simonds AF & AM Lodge several times during his 50 plus years as a member. He also served as District Deputy Grand Master of Grand Lodge of Masons in Massachusetts presiding over the lodges in the Sixth Masonic District. He was also a member of the Shriners Aleppo Temple and Scottish Rite. Frank proudly participated in parades, ceremonials, socials, and countless civic events as a member of the Masons and Shriner’s. He was very proud to see his sons and two grandsons become Masons as well.
Frank was a man who loved his family and was blessed to have two wonderful women in his life. His first wife Margaret, with whom he shared 41 years together and raised 6 children. After Margaret’s passing, he was blessed to meet and marry his second wife Sandra, with whom he shared 27 years together. They enjoyed socializing with friends, wintering in Florida and trips to England. He was blessed to see his family grow and grow. He always had a smile that brightened a room. He leaves a lasting legacy of family, kindness, and love.
Funeral Services will be held at St. Mark’s Church, 10 St. Marks’s Road, Burlington, MA on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at 10 am. Followed by Interment in the Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Burlington, MA. Visiting hours will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., Burlington, MA (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 from 4-8 pm.
