Obituary of Richard McLaughlin

Deacon Richard B. McLaughlin, a retired Chemist & Deacon, passed away on Friday morning, March 20, 2015 at the Kindred Transitional Care & Rehabilitation Center in Westborough. The beloved husband of Maureen (Mauchan), he was 78 years old. Deacon McLaughlin had a very distinguished career. He was a veteran of the Korean & Vietnam Wars, serving his country in the United States Air Force. He had a very long and successful career at Polaroid working as a Chemist. Deacon McLaughlin was ordained in 1992, serving at his own Parish of St. Malachy in Burlington as well as Hanscom Air Force Base in Lexington. Deacon McLaughlin was the beloved husband of Maureen (Mauchan). He was the loving father of Richard McLaughlin Jr. of Belmont, Ronald McLaughlin & his wife Catherine of Northborough, Donna Tolliday & her husband Terence of Bolton, Robert McLaughlin & his wife Kimberlee of Burlington, and Denise Paster & her husband Scott of SC. Brother of the late Leslie and Gus. Proud grandfather of Ryan, Holly, Sean, Caitlin, Courtney, Bailey, Cameron, Jack, Megan, Mercedes & baby Brooke. A devoted husband to his beloved Maureen, Deacon McLaughlin was a proud father and grandfather. He will be remembered as a kind and humble man who touched many lives in the community of Burlington. His ministry was one of love, as he shared the Eucharist with the sick at the Lahey Clinic and opened his home to their families. He will be missed for his generous nature, gentle soul, and genuine smile. Visiting hours will be held at St. Malachy Church, 99 Bedford St., Burlington on Monday from 4-8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Tuesday at 12 Noon. Interment in Pine Haven Cemetery, Burlington. In lieu of flowers memorials in Dick’s name may be made to Alzheimer’s Association Masschusetts Chapter, 480 Pleasant Street, Watertown, MA 02472.
