Nancy was my first best friend. We knew each other during the summers we spent in Sacandaga, NY. I loved her from the moment we met and some 63 years later she remains in my heart. I remember waiting for her mother to wake up so we could get approval of Nancy's outfit so we could go outside to play. I remember the time we went out on the boat with our friends and our fathers tracked us down on the lake to retrieve us: "Moe and Zeke were frantic". I remember when Nancy and Rob met and started dating. I remember spending a summer with her in her sister's NY apartment when Nancy and Rob went to see Smokey Robinson and I didn't know who he was. They were the ultimate duo, perfect for each other in every way.
Nancy was a truly moral and generous person; she would serve anyone first in every way. Her dedication as a teacher, mother and wife were exemplary. And she was fun and funny. We didn't see each other a lot during our adult years, but I felt a connection with her and Rob and her sister Helen that transcends friendship: it's family.
God bless Nancy. You deserved a much better end of life.

I had the opportunity many years ago to be trained by Nancy in two Project Read Programs - Written Expression and Phonics. They were two of the best classes I enrolled in and Nancy's style of teaching and personality was a major factor. So much so, that just the other day I was sharing with one of the "younger" teachers that she find out when Nancy would be teaching another class so she could take it! This morning I was so sad to read about her passing.....My thoughts are prayers are with her entire family....She was a wonderful and vibrant women that you should be very proud of.
